Ten Giants visit team facility, ready to work
The Giants' facilities were open for business for the players at 8 a.m. this morning, although there were no scheduled workouts.
Ten players have arrived so far today: WRs Devin Thomas, Victor Cruz and Ramses Barden; T Kareem McKenzie, K Lawrence Tynes, DB Brian Jackson, RB D.J. Ware and DT Rocky Bernard, RB Brandon Jacobs and C Adam Koets.
"It was good to be back,"
Tynes said. "Home was fun, but four months? ...You like to come to work. You definitely miss it."
Tynes said he missed the expertise of the training room. He is "far enough along"
in his recovery of offseason hernia surgery, left ankle and right heel. He characterized all as minor surgeries.
Tynes did not kick today, although even in a normal offseason he would not begin kicking until next week. He did, however, enjoy a "great lunch"
in the team's cafeteria.
Once the injunction to lift the lockout was issued earlier this week, Devin Thomas booked a flight from his native Michigan to New Jersey to begin working out. Thomas arrived last night and was the first player at the facility this morning -- even before coach Tom Coughlin.
As a late-season addition to the team, he's eager for his first full offseason with the team.
"I was geeked,"
Thomas said. "I had to get back."
Thomas met with the coaching staff. He lifted weights and watched film on his own.
"Everything but the tubs,"
Thomas said. "They don't go none of the tubs filled up. But I know they will be on Monday."
