New York Giants select Connecticut offensive tackle William Beatty with final second-round pick
The Giants took UConn offensive tackle William Beatty with the second of their two second-round picks. The 6-6, 307-pound Beatty could be the left tackle of the future, which could allow David Diehl to move bacak inside at some point.
Beatty was a two-year starter for the Huskies and has very good athletic ability to go with his long build and solid footwork. Beatty's stock suffered a bit after he struggled during Senior Bowl practices - particularly when he faced DE Larry English. (Thanks to the Ourlads Scouting Services draft guide for this and other info today.)
Ourlads also says Beatty needs to work on his technique and play a bit nastier. They also throw in this line: "May disappoint as he is more athlete than football player." We know Jerry Reese likes his athletes and he took a shot with Guy Whimper, so I'm sure he's hoping this one works out better.
