Ahmad Bradshaw Biography - New York Giants Ahmad Bradshaw BiographyAhmad Bradshaw was born on March 19, 1986 in Bluefield, Virginia. Ahmad Bradshaw is an American football player who currently plays running back for the New York Giants. Ahmad Bradshaw was selected in the seventh round by the New York Giants.

An Overview on Ahmad Bradshaw :

In just three short seasons at Marshall, Ahmad Bradshaw helped bring back a once dormant running attack, putting the thunder back in the Thundering Herd offense. The nation’s sixth-leading rusher in 2006, he closed out his career as the school’s fifth all-time rusher with 2,987 yards.

Drawing comparisons to Seattle’s Maurice Morris for his slippery moves past the line of scrimmage, Bradshaw has also shown excellent receiving skills. Ahmad Bradshaw added 687 aerial yards to his final total of 4,026 all-purpose yards during his time at Marshall.

Ahmad Bradshaw earned Super Prep and Prep Star All-American honors as a senior at Graham High School. Ahmad Bradshaw was rated as the seventh-best player in Virginia and the 28th-best corner-back prospect in the country by Rivals.com. Ahmad Bradshaw rushed for 2,282 yards and 27 touchdowns as a junior, adding 2,557 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns as a senior. For his career, Ahmad Bradshaw totaled 5,265 yards on the ground, scored 92 touchdowns and averaged nearly 10 yards a carry.

Ahmad Bradshaw originally signed to play football at the University of Virginia, but never enrolled for the fall semester after he was arrested for underage alcohol possession and obstruction of justice.

Ahmad Bradshaw arrived at Marshall in 2004, joining the team as a walk-on. In nine games that season, he produced 467 yards and three touchdowns on 89 carries (5.2 avg), finishing second in the Mid-American Conference’s voting for Freshman of the Year honors. Ahmad Bradshaw added 186 yards and a pair of scores on thirteen catches (14.3 avg), 108 yards on nine punt returns (12.0 avg) and 225 yards on ten kickoff returns. Ahmad Bradshaw amassed 986 all-purpose yards and also made two tackles.

In 2005, Marshall shifted to Conference USA, where Ahmad Bradshaw garnered second-team postseason honors. Ahmad Bradshaw powered his way for 997 yards on 214 attempts (4.7 avg) and nine touchdowns. Ahmad Bradshaw also made 56 catches for 381 yards (6.8 avg) and a score. Ahmad Bradshaw finished his sophomore campaign with 1,382 all-purpose yards.

Prior to the 2006 season, Ahmad Bradshaw again ran afoul of the law, when he was arrested for burglary and petty larceny. He would go on to become only the eighth player in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards in a season. His 1,523 yards rank second on the Herd’s season-record list, carrying 249 times (6.1 avg) with nineteen touchdowns, the fourth-highest season total by a Marshall runner. He snared 17 passes for 129 yards (7.6 avg) and two scores, gaining 1,658 all-purpose yards.

In 32 games at Marshall, Ahmad Bradshaw started 22 contests. He rushed 552 times for 2,987 yards (5.4 avg) and 31 touchdowns. Ahmad Bradshaw caught 86 passes for 696 yards (8.1 avg) and five scores, adding 118 yards on eleven punt returns (10.7 avg) and 225 yards on ten kickoff returns (22.5 avg). Ahmad Bradshaw recorded seven tackles (6 solos) and scored 216 points. Ahmad Bradshaw also piled up 4,026 all-purpose yards, an average of 125.8 yards per game.

Ahmad Bradshaw Scouting Report :

Ahmad Bradshaw has good muscular development in the upper body and bubble, a wide back with good chest thickness and tapered calves…Shows the stop-&-go agility, along with good vision, to change directions when the rush lane is clogged…Has patience waiting for blocks to develop and is a tough competitor that likes the physical aspect of the game…

Works to fall forward and get extra yards, showing good body lean…Lacks blazing speed, but shows good initial quickness and balance to cut on a dime and head up field…Lets the play develop and is rare to see him out-run his blockers…Sees and feels the entire field and while he might lack ideal size for the inside running game, he has the lower body strength and sharp cuts to gain valid yardage between the tackles…Has a quick short area burst to reach the edge, but lacks the speed to out-run the defense…Shows a good burst through the holes to accelerate through those gaps (slasher-type runner)…Keeps defenders guessing and off-balance with his head fakes, loose hips and moves…Shows good ball security and distribution, running low to the ground…Effective receiver out of the backfield, who catches the ball cleanly and outside the frame…Despite his size, he will not hesitate to face up as a blocker…While his speed tapers off going long distances, he still has that quick start to get up and through the holes…Tough to bring down on initial contact and shows the vision to find even the smallest of seams…Has the body control and adjustment skills to be an efficient weapon on screens, as he has a good feel for finding the soft spots on the field…Can also handle return duties in an emergency and also has experience on the coverage units…There are no false steps or need to gather before attacking the line, as he shows no hesitation in his running stride…The thing you notice on film is his toughness, as he knows how to lower his head, square his shoulder and drive through tacklers (tackled for losses only 20 times on 552 carries)…Has a good hand punch and wide base to anchor and face up to edge rushers and shows alertness picking up the blitz to protect the pocket.

Ahmad Bradshaw Career Notes :
